OK, so you press play and a tune comes on with a conga arrangement akin to Marvin’s “Inner City Blues”, a trumpet that sounds like it’s been lent straight from the Crusaders and bv’s that Cool & the Gang would be proud of...

At the same time, think, the expanse of an Omar tune, Marvin in a sultry mood and a flute that takes you back to a golden era for soul/R&B when it was odd not to have a flute feature on a track and I think you may just have an idea of what to expect on Joe Leavy’s must-hear soul swayer, “Inside You”.

Here’s an artist who can take you back to the future with his on-point Ingram, Bryson, (Freddie) Jackson, Osborne vibe and deft vocal intent but at the same time deliver a delicious slice of contemporary soul. When they say they don’t make em’ like they used to, then tell them to listen to Joe Leavy. There's no denying, this tune just oozes quality from start to finish... it’s lights down low and off you go time! Lol.
