Just in case you were unaware Bahama Soul Club is a German musical collective known for their unique blend of jazz, soul, Latin, and tropical sounds. The band was formed in 2008 by producer and musician Oliver Belz.
The group's music is heavily influenced by the sounds of the Caribbean, particularly the Bahamas, and incorporates elements of Afro-Cuban rhythms, bossa nova, and jazz. They infuse their music with a modern twist, fusing traditional styles with electronic elements and contemporary production. Here they collaborate with talented vocalists, both male and female, to create a diverse and rich musical experience.
Their music has received critical acclaim for its infectious grooves, lush arrangements, and captivating performances and this one is no different.
Sun dub Society sees a glorious return to form. Opener, ‘Surfing Zavial’ sets a seductive mood with a cool flat wound bass line over a sax ridden, Latin bossa groove that really hits the sweet spot. And as the album suggests there’s some cool and sunny dub reggae on offer with ‘Hangout’ ft. Hedvig Larsson & Cutty Wren. Cool horns and dreamy vocals puts you in the mood for a tall rum drink (after a day’s surfing) over a Caribbean sunset.
This outfit manifest many moods and shades whether it be the barping baritone interwoven with JB’s horns of ‘The Rooster Calls’ ft. Josephine Nightingale or the funky / Maceo skank of ‘Zambujeira’.
Overall, Bahama Soul Club is a talented musical collective and if you haven’t already fallen in love with them this one is going to seal the deal.
