Max Beesley is without doubt one of Britain’s most talented musicians and multi-instrumentalists. Known for his versatility, Max has made significant contributions to the music industry and his impressive credentials speak for themselves. He has worked with
Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Maceo Parker, Earth Wind & Fire, Red Rodney, George Benson, Bobby Shew, Maynard Ferguson, James Brown, Incognito, The Brand New Heavies , Jamiroquai and many more.
It’s great to see him back and in such good form. Who can forget the major impact he made on the Acid Jazz movement and his involvement with seminal label Boogie Back Productions.
The High Vibes project is packed with quality music and production with a band that consists of Steve Gadd on drums, Walt Fowler on trumpet and flugelhorn, Dean Parks on guitar and Luis Conte on percussion plus a kick ass horn section and keys player. Suffice to say these are some of the greatest session players on the planet and the proof is in the pudding with this scintillating album.
With his old school friend Jerry Meehan on bass and co production and they have come up with something exceptional. Right from the off the mission statement is clear ‘Zeus’ is Jazz Funk blessedness pure and simple peppered with spry bass, choice rhodes, hot vibraphone from Max himself over a glorious uptempo groove.
High Vibes is a delightful fusion of jazz, funk, soul, and contemporary sounds. His compositions often feature captivating melodies, intricate rhythms, and rich harmonies that create a truly immersive listening experience. Max's musical style is eclectic and innovative, blending different genres to create his own unique sound. Needless to say it’s pure taste and class. These are simply banging tunes in anybody’s book.
